Pearl, Alexandrite & Moonstone: June's Birthstones

Pearl, Alexandrite & Moonstone: June's Birthstones

When it comes to birthstones, June is one of the rare months blessed with three. Pearl, alexandrite and moonstone are completely different to each other in the best way. Whether you're into classic elegance, a bit of magic, or something soft and mystical, June's got you covered.

Pearl – Soft, Natural Beauty

Pearls are such a classic gemstone. What makes them really special is how they’re formed. They grow inside oysters or mussels when a tiny irritant, like a grain of sand, gets trapped inside the shell. In response, the mollusk slowly coats it in layers of nacre (also known as mother-of-pearl), and over time, a pearl is born.

Because they’re grown in water rather than mined from the earth, pearls feel especially connected to nature and have long been symbols of calm, purity, and quiet strength.

Whether you’re into the traditional round white pearls or more organic-looking baroque ones, they’re always a win.

Alexandrite – The Colour-Changer

This one’s a bit of a show-off — in the best way. Alexandrite actually changes colour depending on the light. It looks greenish in daylight and shifts to a purply-red under warm lighting. Super rare, super cool.

People say it’s all about balance and transformation, which kind of fits perfectly with its vibe. It’s definitely the most unusual of the June birthstones, and a fun choice if you like something a bit different.

Moonstone – Soft and Glowy

If you're into that dreamy, celestial look, moonstone might be your favourite. It has this soft shimmer that seems to glow from within — kind of like moonlight trapped in a gem. It’s got a bit of a magical feel to it and is often linked to intuition, emotions, and new beginnings.

Moonstones look amazing in simple, delicate settings or paired with other soft-toned stones. Very boho and romantic!

So... Which One's Your Favourite?

Whether you're a June baby yourself or just love the look of these gems, there's something special about each one. I haven’t worked with these particular stones yet, but they’ve definitely been added to my inspiration list!
